The Vice President for Research has recognized Dr. Ron Kriz, associate professor of engineering science and mechanics, as the Scholar of the Week. Dr. Kriz is a leading expert in fracture mechanics and nondestructive evaluation of composite materials. His research places emphasis on high performance computing simulations and scientific visual data analysis of simulation results. Dr. Kriz founded the Laboratory for Scientific Visual Analysis in 1991, which has resulted in many innovations by the university's faculty, staff, and students. He is also the holder of the W.S. "Pete" White Innovations in Engineering Education Award.
