BLACKSBURG, Va., Sept. 12, 2012 – In the latest US News & World Report ranking of undergraduate engineering science/engineering physics programs, the Virginia Tech Department of Engineering Science and Mechanics is 5th in the nation.  The top five programs in that ranking include:

2.  California Institute of Technology (tie)
2.  University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign (tie)
4.  University of California, Berkeley
5.  Stanford University (tie)
5.  Virginia Tech (tie)
