SYMPOSIUM ON "EXPERIMENTS IN FRACTURE MECHANICS"

To Honor Professor C. W. Smith 1999 ASME Summer Conference on Mechanics and Materials Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State Univeresity, June 27-30 Professor C. W. Smith has made many important contributions to the field of Experimental Fracture Mechanics. This symposium is being organized to honor him for his various contributions and at the same time to review the state of the art in this field. Papers are solicited in the broad area of Experimental Fracture Mechanics with particular emphasis on novel techniques.

Authors are requested to submit a one page abstract, typed single spaced on 8.5 X 11 white sheet with 1 inch margin on all four sides. The title (16 point, bold) should be followed by a single space, authors names (12 point, bold), their affiliations (12 point) (complete address should be included so that interested persons can contact the authors by mail,, or e-mail), a single space and then the text of the abstract in single space and 12 point. Line drawings are preferred rather than complex or more involved figures in the abstract. The abstracts are due by November 1, 1998 and should be mailed to the organizer: Professor A.
