SYMPOSIUM ON MATERIALS PROCESSING
ASME Mechanics and Materials Conference
June 27-30, 1999
Virginia Polytechnic University, Blacksburg, VA 24061
http://www.esm.vt.edu/mmconf/
Organizers: H.P. Cherukuri, R.E. Johnson and R.E. Smelser

This symposium seeks to bring together researchers from both the industry and academia to discuss current research trends in metals processing technology, issues involved in modeling
various processes such as sheet-metal forming, bulk metal-forming, quenching and casting. The specific topics to be covered include but not limited to:

     Residual stresses
     Bulk and sheet forming
     Material Instabilities in Manufacturing Processes
     Metal Cutting
     Casting and Quenching
     Inverse methods and Optimization

The symposium will be held as part of the 1999 ASME Mechanics & Materials Conference, June 27-30, 1999, Virginia Polytechnic University, Blacksburg, VA. Interested authors are
invited to submit abstracts typed, single spaced on 8.5 X 11 white sheet with 1 inch margin on all four sides.

The title (16 point, bold) should be followed by a single space, authors names (12 point, bold), their affiliations (12 point) (complete address should be included so that interested persons
can contact the authors by mail, or e-mail), a single space and then the text of the abstract in single space and 12 point.

It will be preferable to include line drawings rather than complex or more involved figures in the abstract. THE ABSTRACT MUST NOT EXCEED ONE-PAGE; ELSE ONLY THE
FIRST PAGE WILL APPEAR IN THE BOOK OF ABSTRACTS.

Deadline for submission of Abstracts is 5 January 1999.

Abstracts should be mailed to:
