The last years have witnessed a considerable interest for the development of structures capable of reacting adaptively to the external stimuli and as a result, to expand their operational life without the occurrence of any type of failure. This symposium is intended to constitute a forum for presentation and discussion of the latest advances in the area of modeling and behavior of smart structures and their control. Papers addressing the entire spectrum of those issues, of both theoretical and experimental nature are solicited.
One-page abstracts typed single-spaced on white 8.5-by-11-inch bond paper with 1.25-inch margins on all four sides are due by January 15, 1999. The name and affiliations of authors should follow a brief title.
Selected papers are intended to be published in specialized journals.
